I’ve been so busy this spring that it wasn’t until about the middle of May that I suddenly realized I hadn’t made a summer reading list. I’d scribbled down three or four titles at some point, but I didn’t have it all planned out in February or March as in some past years. So I sat down and gave it a few moments’ thought, and here we are.
The Last Atlantean by Emily Hayse
Sweet Danger by Margery Allingham
Amelia Rankin by Charles O. Locke
The Song of the Lark by Willa Cather
Apple Blossoms by Britain Kalai Soderquist
The Port of Missing Men by Meredith Nicholson
S.S. Murder by Q. Patrick
Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry
Greenwillow by Beatrice Joy Chute
In past years I have cheerfully made up summer reading lists as long as my arm, but this year with a novel to edit and an atmosphere of general unpredictability to life, I’m keeping it short and sweet. Based on past experience, I’ll definitely end up reading many more books than this throughout the summer months, but I don’t want my “official” list to be in any way intimidating.
what does your summer reading list look like?
